I'm not going to get up at 4am to play CTF in order to maybe push a quest along in the offchance that someone is watching, thanks.
well, i don't believe the act of playing any of the games on thieves island necessarily demands some sort of gm presence or acknowledgment. that said, i'm not fully familiar with ctf or the other thieves island games -- before my time -- and i'm not entirely about the mechanics. just spitballing.

when i was considering this idea, i imagined that the answer (or a hint) to the shadowguild question might be stumbled across whilst a-playin' or setting up or something like that. no gm required. *shrug*

So I went to coli when it was open and badlands today with full tril. Did not see any pfs in either. I even tried entering a fight in coli then running to Soh'nee, nothing. I checked underground tunnels for secret times paths or PFs, nothing. I did notice a spot while walking, that seems like an invisible object is there. was weird, but probably a glitch. Would like to take a mystic to check for illusions though. The only thing I didnt try was to make all the bases the same flag and put on a jersey of that color. need to try that with yellow, blue, and red to be sure, so would need a few mystics to help. Oh, and I even tried using the altar in the tent nest to arena and then spoke to Soh'nee, and nothing. I also bumped trees for hidden entries, nothing. This is really getting unmotivating..

Tried making all bases in CTF same color, and talking to soh'nee wearing that color jersey, nothing.

Were all of the NPCs you expected to see in Coliseum (based on your list in page 2) visible in coliseum? I thought maybe there would be a guy 'hidden' somewhere. Asking for the list of creatures available to fight with the fight-scheduler (Zukapus? been a while) also was something I was thinking of. Also requesting with him to fight "Shadowguild" and other permutations of the name -- e.g. if you request him to fight the Shadowguild, maybe he'd give you a mark on your hand so you can infiltrate them.

That's pretty much all I had in mind. I doubt the quest requires illusion breaking mystics to solve, unless Yappy specifically wants to make Sativa's blood pressure explosively high. But Yappy isn't HGM, so (again) I suspect pissing off principle PWCs involved in the storyline wouldn't be his M.O.

Well I wouldn't be angry if it required cooperation with full mystics, though I think it would be odd to randomly decide to require illusions from mystics when Nylar doesn't seem to have any mystics in his crew.

While exploring with Cecil, I wondered if we exhausted all the ways to interpret this hint. We either are being asked to do something that is meant to be a fun game in clanlord, or we are meant perhaps to do what we do anyway, and accidentally stumble across the entry one day while doing something we would already be expected to do.

Also, I think perhaps Sohn'ee gives us hints that 'nothing to see here' may indicate an invisible presence. There are at least 2 spots in badlands that seem like sticky invisible patches, where someone may be hiding. Nothing has worked yet to reveal these as anything except effects of masking in the design of the snell.

To my knowledge these are related topics to the shadowguild, and this quest, in no particular order:
Murder for hire
Secrecy
Invisibility
Aquiring mystical knowledge
Stiletto knife
Apples
Darshak
Underground caves
Seafaring
Casino/gambling
coliseum
games in general
wearing black
Shadowguild as a group that 'fixes problems'

anything else? I am just trying to paint a full picture in context so we can find hints that may connect some of these dots (even if a few are red herrings.. mmm herring)

Did anyone try handing a horn to Wah Tu'ut? Because he is saying he doesn't have time to talk because he's on a deadline and beside him are shipments of horns for the Golden Butterfly casino.

He is also wiping his brow and blowing his nose on his sleeve so I tried to hand him a clean kerchief, which he denied. I also tried a towel and a copper ingot.

Is anyone willing to possibly sacrifice a horn for this?
Wah Tu'ut wipes his brow and grunts a greeting to Borzon.
Wah Tu'ut says, "It's hot and dirty work: standing at this forge all day, crafting shiny horns for my business partners."
Wah Tu'ut says, "I'd loves to chat with you, but I gots a lots to do and a deadline to meet."
Wah Tu'ut wipes his nose on his sleeve and turns back to the forge.

Ship to: Golden Butterfly, Puddleby.

We had all this community interested for a few weeks, now nothing again. This is whats wrong with CL sometimes. Not enough info to solve quests, or to even know if parts of the game are ready to be solved. This is very frustrating to me. It seems we have an awesome area to explore, but no where to start looking. No GM interaction to get the ball rolling in game.
I thought that I already gave an excellent hint, but if you missed it, I'll repeat it: do something else more fun.

I'm no native English speaker. And perhaps I interpret this totally wrong.
But for me it says : It is not working, we do not spend time on it currently. Go somewhere else and come back when we say the time is right. Nothing you can do now. Do not waste your time on it.
Go shred some squirrels or do something else what is fun.

Again I can totally miss interpret this. :?:

If this is the case, then please Yappy, say, "now is not the time to try to solve this, try again later."

Your interpretation of Yappy's most recent quote could be correct, however his first post (in this thread) is unambiguous:
Yappy wrote: The short answer: it is a solvable quest. The longer answer: It's a solvable quest, but don't invest time trying to solve it. Find something else more fun to do.
And based on his more recent post, it seems (to me at least) that the long answer given on Page 1 is a hint as for the solution to enter this large, cool new area, rather than an indication of telling us "yeah I finished it but it totally blows go to Estuary instead."

Thanks for the other suggestions, Sativa.

I tried my Coliseum idea today. I went up to the beast scheduler, Zukapus, and when he asked what I wanted to fight, I tried a whole bunch of permutations of "The Shadowguild" or "Shadowguild" or "Nylar" or "Hammurdern" and "Sohn'ee" and even "Mystic Council", "Sativa", and "Mystics", but every time I was told "Sorry. Try again." I also tried full sentences like "I would like to fight the Shadowguild." but it didn't seem to make him raise his eyebrows. I then went around the rest of the coliseum (including the skybox) but did not see any paths or illusions. I have full Trillbane PF and quite a lot of illusion breaking training, so I can pretty confidently cross that off the list. I left and logged off before realizing that maybe I should stay until after coliseum closes in case there is anything special that's afterhours-only, so maybe someone could still check that.

It could be like the marsh hermit, where you have to say something very specific to Zukapus, but I didn't get that impression, nor any clues that I was on the right track. Possibly also you have to chain the right monster to Zapicus, who does have a locked door beside him. However more likely it's just not the right solution and I'm barking up the wrong tree.

I also noticed there was one NPC not on Cecil's list on Page 2: Profus. (The guy who tells you how many fights are upcoming / how long until yours.) All of the other listed NPCs were there (except the not-real simulcast) and none of them appear to have anything different to say than how they were 7+ years ago when the last modification was added of Slik and the skybox. So I wonder if whoever made the skristal NPC list missed some other clues as well... although probably this won't really help in the quest.

PS: I fought three Co'Acha in the coliseum and totally dominated the bout, pulling all 5c in that I'd bet on myself. And people said Mystics couldn't win coliseum fights..

After the Undine invasion last night, and recovering the manual and giving it to Adele, I thought of an idea I would like to try. It probably wont work, but worth a shot:

Use the new askplein ability to temporarily raise someone after we kill them in badlands, then talk to Soh'nee. Adele said we have only 5 days of her machine to work, so we need to have a healer try that out ASAP please.

Wah Tu'ut won't take a horn away from anyone, but he will give a quest to fellow horn enthusiasts. After some testing, no one has found any connection between this and the Shadowguild, but it's possible there is one that no one has thought of.

Just tried the Re-animate ability with Mirabel and Arod. I killed Arod, and Mira reanimated him, he then spoke with Sohn'ee and got same msg. Nothing!

I've scoured Thieves, and everything else I could think of, and everyone's ideas on here, and have not even come close to solving this, or even sniffed anything I've tried leading to new ideas. So I'm giving up on this. Such a shame too. Good luck exiles.
