The Secret History of Mac Gaming

Post by thesquib » Mon Nov 20, 2017 1:15 am

The v1042 discussion reminded me I preordered/backed this book about the history of mac games which some may be interested in.
Joe features in it I believe.

Check it out:

I still play the Marathon series a few times a year (AlephOne). Revolutionary game and still completely addicting and hella good story telling.

Looks like the book is nearly ready. Looking forward to it (also pre-ordered, like it feels years ago :D)

High Five!

The ceepiest playthrough was with the christmas music enabled in the original Marathon. Runner up being the AlephOne part with the chapel where you hear monks singing behind the locked doors.

Bungie was the shit back in the day.

I hear that. Run it under linux in virtualbox... works fine like that. Kinda a pain to setup, but it works.

Looks like it is a display resolution problem, perhaps not using one my Mac supports.
Figured I can run it in windowed mode fine like this (through Terminal)
Marathon.app/Contents/MacOS/Marathon --windowed

Then I can set a different resolution, and I can use command-enter to fullscreen it.

No problem!
