CLMacros.com - WayBack Machine 2008

Post by Aye'cha » Sun Jul 14, 2013 3:58 pm

For those that might be too young, there used to be a website called CLMacros.com that people uploaded their macros to for sharing. It went down sometime between 2008-Present and never came back up. So I wanted to present here a link that will let you gain access to what was there at the time of the snapshot.

I hope this sees good use. Laters.

I would love to do it, but I am not sure if I could do it in a timely manner. I have a hard enough time making schedule events (sorry).

Hey, I have decided to take a stab at it, as a way of learning to implement a true backbone.js application. Anyone here know Backbone.js? I know a bit of it, but was hoping for someone else to spearhead it so we could get it moving quicker. This one would filter out more than 1 URL or require an account: I figure we could use character names as a validator. It would be great to be able to use the Sentinel accounts as a base, but that would require Vagile to implement OAuth, and I am not about to volunteer her to do that, because I know the pain of being volunteered code up something “Simple.” It never is and it is a thankless job. :)

No promises as to when it may be up, but if someone brave stepped forward we could get this puppy rolling next week, and possibly have something basic up within a month.

Also, I will be using Zurb’s Foundation as a CSS Framework for the display code. So, knowing that or SASS is a plus, but it is pretty easy to pick up. If you are willing to learn something that could make you a lot of money as a Web Dev let me know. I have already made a few K in the last 4 months on the side doing simple (non-dynamic as in no MYSQL or PHP) Web Dev, and knowing Foundation made the pain of making an advanced CSS file pretty painless: I am loving SASS & Compass.

Well, I thought my workload would decrease, but it has stayed constant. So, I am still in the planning phase. I have the DB designed and have chosen some of the prebuilt tools (so I can get it out faster), but that’s it.

Like my Moonstone Functions macro page ( http://www.noivad.net/moonstone_functions-template.php ), I want to allow people to post macros that can be output with user-defined triggers (like F6 instead of F7, etc.) and devices (“caduceus” instead of “mercurial staff’, etc.) for greater flexibility, and to allow those not willing or able to invest the months it would take to learn how to make macros (even though my page about them here: http://www.clanlord.net/clump/index.php?title=Macros is a good bootstrap, IMO) to use macros players enjoy to cut down the repetition of typing out “/use” or “/equip” all the time.

However, I will have to probably add this feature later because it open up a gaggle of potential security problems with having to parse files for web output. (I will probably make it a file download instead of output to a webpage just because of the thicket of potential exploits this would avoid.)

Since I have not heard feedback, I figure most people don’t care much. So, I will probably bounce this to those hours that I am relaxing.
