new MIDI-to-CLTF converter for Win, Linux (and maybe MacOS)

Post by Newt » Thu Aug 28, 2008 6:11 pm

Dear Bards of the Other World,

I have written a MIDI-to-CLTF converter for Windows and Linux. There might even be a Mac-Version in the future.
It is a pure converter, so you cannot edit any songs with it. But since there are many good, free, and professional programs out there to create MIDI files, I though this would be the best approach for a PC-tool to create songs that can be played in ClanLord/Arindal.

Major features include:
- read any type of MIDI file
- automatic polyphony delimiter(*)
- merge, select, and disable individual channels
- (automatically) transpose the song
- output as CL-Macro, already split into /parts

(*) this means that it is possible to automatically reduce the number of simultaneously played notes so that the MIDI file can be played on any instrument - even on the flutes!

Please check the Arindal forum for more details, or feel free to go directly to the download page.
Included in the .zip is a ReadMe.txt with a more detailed explanation of the features.

Best regards, and keep on playing!

new version 2.1:
- support for long chords ([...]$)
- support for upper c (/b#)
- correctly apply channel volumes, also for merged channels
- support for individual note velocities(=volumes)

Windows/Linux. Mac version *soon*
