A piece of Fine Wood to win!
Posted: Tue Feb 06, 2007 8:22 pm
I have a piece of Fine Wood. For quite some time I have wanted to give it to some deserving and lucky bard. I will hold a short contest soon to award it.
The contest format below is a proposal, i am open to ideas and changes will be solely at my discretion.
Every bard will have the opportunity to play 3 songs of his or her composition, for a maximum duration of approximately 5 ooc minutes. Song themes, lyrics and such are to the discretion of the bard.
Among the participants, I will choose the three who have presented the best performance to my taste that day. If less than 4 bards show up, I reserve the right to kick out anyone without a decent performance.
Among the 3 finalists, I will use a pouch of dice to decide who wins the piece of Fine Wood. All finalists will also get a 500 coins prize.
Unless changed, the show will happen in 4 days, on the ooc date:
Saturday February 10th 2007
at Noon PST. (3 PM eastern time).
Spread the word to bards, come along to play and listen, or join in the awarding if you have parts you want to give as well.

Unless things change very shortly, bard music is broken currently. =/
That's why I haven't been out myself, heh - why sit around town if music doesn't work?
It's supposedly being fixed, though... but not until next update (I think).

I presume you are allowing old songs, since it's pretty short to want them to write so many. Better wait for next version though. They can only play things that have only one part.

Yes, old songs are entirely allowed. Only limitation is to be own composition.
I will get information on how proken things are and decide on date before thursday ooc.

Um, can we postpone this to after the next chaos storm. There's a gerbil running around at the moment affecting some bard songs

Either that, or go hardcore and write some one-part songs! That is what I did. But yes, last I heard, the bard bug is being worked on and should be fixed next chaos storm if not sooner.

Well, not knowing how things are going to turn out with storm and such, I'll postpone the event. Stay tuned for a new day.

Thanks - I don't have many one part songs to work with, anyway. ;)
I would be surprised if this brokenness lasted into the next update - I hope things will be fixed by then.

Good to know, my lords and ladies, that there seems to be something terribly wrong with the instruments playing any song of certain durations. I had quite thought I was losing my mind. I hope Master Hendrux can tune this problem out of the instruments very soon as this ends some of my songs quite badly, as you all can well imagine.

(2 weeks later than the initial date)
If you have comments or issues with the timing or otherwise, let me know here.

So exactly the same time as Wangah Rah's bard competition and badlands battle? Are the two bard competitions combined now? Is there a nautical theme to this?

OK, i'll hold it saturday 24th 10:30 AM PST at the bards field.
Whomever bard present can participate.
And hopefully by the time Wangah's stuff come up, we'll be all done and clear. I suggest you don't burn up your nautical novelties for the piece of wood.
