Healers healing poison?

Post by Super Chicken » Tue Apr 21, 2009 8:37 pm

So I've been thinking... I remember slarty saying at some point that he'll want to fix the ranger poison bug exploit thingy. Also, more and more emphasis has been on fighters lately. I'd like to point out that there is a good opportunity here to redo the poison system so healers have to heal the poison. I'd like the idea of healers healing the poison away better then... just pulling an antivenom potion out of your belt and drinking it. There's no fun in that! Fighters can carry around the venom potions, it's a waste. Let healers heal.

with that said, i'll miss my instant poison healing 8(

This is a great idea. I think it should be either an item, or a small rank investment to apply to moonstone, and it heals away the poison exactly like healing health. wubb wubb wubb (except use a cool sound effect, and change the sparkles color)

I also think this is a great idea. I think the statue should be placed in the southwest corner of the tc sn'ell.

Ya that's exactly what I was thinking. a new moonstone or a trainer to the old one. Even us trolius rangers would have to rely on healers again. it fixs a lot of aspects of the game.

I also agree. Let healers heal under the giant gold statue of the Chicken!

Er...

Seriously, though, Healers do seem to get somewhat of a raw end of the stick sort of deal. Why not give them a bit more of a role by making them the ones that heal poisoning as well as wounds? Honestly, it makes a great deal more sense to me both from a logical standpoint and from a game balance standpoint.

I think it would have to be an item that you can only heal poison and not health at the time. Also it should require are trainer to heal faster. Maybe the same speed ratio at which training troilus recovers health. But on the other side, the healers would heal right away making ten not need to train a lot of that speed trainer. How about change the poison all together and make it like balance poison and get just a little chunk every time you get poisoned and then get worse if you dont heal and not just make it gradually get worse from 100% health like it is now. Obviously the chunks of poison wont be huge to make it fun still. So how about an item called something like "Staff of Gai" or something that you need to equip. Be able to use it like a moonstone or cad, and can train proxy and faustus for it, but call those trainers something else. Maybe even a burst trainer too, who knows....Just some ides.
Thanks for the apology Cecil, vaginas everywhere are grateful to you.-Kalypso

Make it a capped trainer, 100 ranks max. Training affects the rate at which poison is healed. Poison healed concurrently with regular healing.

No additional items without additional pack space.

I agree that it makes sense. But, what happens to the ranks people invested in alchemy to make the anti-venoms ? Or do you suggest to keep both methods to cure poison ?

Okay, so I'm a healer. I know I get screwed when I get bit by a snake, so I carry an anti-venom bandolier. I don't care if people fall to get rid of poison. It's been so long I feel like a change will be too disruptive at this point. I don't care if rangers can get out of it with a morph. They worked for that too. Just what I DON'T need is another "magic" fix that requires two weeks of ranks to get less than I have already. Bleah. Fixes that wind up screwing you. Swell. </grump>

Oh, and the choices in your poll don't help any. It's not that dichotomy. </more grump>

What's wrong with the poll?! It has a yes, a no, and a "feed the chicken's ego" choice!

I think she means they're not simple Yes/No options. They come with implied reasoning/motivation that is not her opinion.
