Champion: Portal Stone Eater

Post by Haffron » Thu Jan 13, 2011 4:05 am

It'd be cool to have some sort of container that would eat a stone for me, so i'd gain my champion spirit back. It would make champions a lot more useful on big hunts, but requires you to pre-game before the hunt.

I like the suggestion. But it's probably too powerful. What I'd like to see is perhaps something you can take with you on hunts to regain spirit at a lesser rate than back in town. So for example if in town trading in an or gave me 200 Toomeria worth of spirit back, on the road it would only give me 150, or even 100. So that way in town it's much more useful, and would still be used, but if out far into a hunt with no easy town access, it'd still be able to give that little extra something if needed. I'd even be happy if it was something other tan ore. Something rarer. I think it would be cool if all kinds of ore and stones gave varying amounts of spirit back when absorbed. So a stone might give 25, and copper 50 etc. I'm also still very open to any kind of gain spirit potion, even if it's super rare and hard to find. Could even make something like a gain 200 respia for 5 minutes so that all classes would be able to use it.

Can champions only eat the ore? Or do stones work too?

I had an idea like this written up. Did a graphic for it too!

The idea went like so:
Step 1: You can get a Ruby Necklace enchanted to become a Flame Crystal Charm.
Step 2: You can trade ores to an NPC in the Champion place for a Flame Crystal.
Step 3: You can store up to (3-5?) Flame Crystals on the charm at any given time. works like a bandoleer.

Would necessarily be weaker than the already-extant method. Graphic provided on request. A lot of you Champions have already seen it. :)

Hold on. Buffing champions instead of nerfing rangers ? No way it'll ever end up implemented :)

Sounds like a cool idea still with an appropriate balance :)

Hi there isn't enough information to give my informed opinion of the suggestion.

You did imply that you had a certain amount of spirit and using some kind of stone reduced your spirit.
It seems like the opposite should be true then. Getting rid of some kind of stone restores your spirit.

Your suggestion does seem reasonable with this line of thought, but I can't agree with it without knowing more.

As of the last time I checked (about 4-5 months ago) only iron ore was able to be turned in for a boost in spirit. It gives back a significant amount. Probably about 200 or so Toomeria worth. I've never Actually tested it though. As to Shadiwfire's suggestion, that would be wonderful. Anything really would be wonderful. I've trained myself for the most part to never run out of spirit, but it does happen. So an idea like this would help me in those situations, as well as helping all the other champions who have nit trained to never run out of spirit. This may encourage more shieldstoning by champions, as well as inspire those who were wary of training the abilities because they feared that they would not have the necessary spirit when it was called for.

Yea, giving Champions some way to recover spirit on a hunt, would actually make them... GASP viable.

*gives an award to Jazz for a seven-year bump* I wonder if they changed something because it seems the Champions I've been hunting with have been able to use their spirit quite a few times. Maybe they have trained more of it so it doesn't matter as much when it gets depleted. Has anything changed?

I don't think so- probably folks just trained up enough to help along with some conservative use. But if just about everyone else can recharge in some way then why can't Champs? Granted we don't suck up blood like the glass canons do but ore makes sense out on a hunt.

Is there a reason why they can't? For example, do champions use spirit when they swing their blade?
